A Christmas party is an annual event that my friends and I look forward to. This year, we celebrated Christmas a little earlier… just before COVID-19 restrictions were announced in December.
It was a delightful and meaningful gathering. Everyone had a great time. Christmas parties like this bring us back to the joy of celebrating the holiday in the Philippines. In Korea, Christmas is not a big celebration. With Filipino friends to celebrate Christmas with, I don’t miss the extravagant and merry occasion that my family in the Philippines used to have that much.
Exchanging gifts on Christmas is not a common activity among Koreans. I have never received a Christmas present from a Korean family member… not even from my husband… so every Christmas, I just buy myself gifts. Hahaha! This year, I didn’t buy anything fancy. I went to Sephora to use my 20 percent membership coupon and ended up hoarding makeup!
I didn’t have a long Christmas break. Most companies here don’t even give a Christmas break. On one of my days off, I met some friends at Starfield Coex Mall. We visited the famous library there and took lots of pictures of the magnificent Christmas tree and Christmas displays.
